We had our third annual lobster feast with the neighbours last night. Three sets of neighbours attended. The ones across, next door, and around the corner. The ones from around the corner, Sirdar and family, are the newbies to this particular shindig. We allow them, once in awhile, to visit from the ghetto side to the decent side of the neighbourhood. ;) My parents, who do not live in the neighbourhood, also came.
When we were setting up for the party the skies were clear and the air was warm. We decided, as we had on a previous year, to host the party on our screened-in deck. We pulled our dining room table out there as well as a couple of smaller tables for food. By five o’clock the skies were dark and it was raining. We were dry because the deck is covered, but we were cold, too! We have a perfectly warm house but noooo. We were outside eating our lobsters (and steak for those who chose not to have lobster) wearing coats and shivering. Great hosts, heh? Everyone was a sport about it, though. After all, if they wanted to eat indoors they would’ve had to help drag the table back in!

And then bigger still...
Most people stayed until about 9:30 when frost started to set in…I’m kidding. There was no frost, but I could see people’s breath when they spoke. We came in the house at that point and Sirdar and his gang stayed awhile longer. We had a great conversation. What I mean is, the guys stayed in their part of the house while Dawn (who has recently started her own blog) and I had our own tête-à-tête in our part of the house. The guys even tried once to weasel in but we set them straight soon enough. :-)
Then around 11:00pm, four of the kids came running upstairs dressed to the nines in costumes. I just had to grab a picture of that!
All in all, it was another successful neighbourhood bash.

Our temps warmed up a bit yesterday...today looks like it will be nice too....sorry to hear it was so cold for your party...
That sounds (and looks - from your pictures) like a great bash! I love the costumes! My sisters and I used to do stuff like that quite often when we were kids too.

Debbie, I thought one's neighbours were allowed past the porch? Your dad and Sirdar having to stand outdoors - poor chaps - and hypothermia too!!

It was a lot of fun. I have never eaten that much lobster in my life. Next year...Steak and Lobster!!

I also remember this afternoon that we hadn't paid for the lobster. We will catch up with you sometime this week. We have to spend our evenings on that damn fence this week.
That looks like so much fun! My neighbors don't get together for anything like that. The closest is the neighborhood garage sell, but its each house having its own and no one really talks to anyone...
Wow, your party looks like fun. The best I could get our neighborhood to do is rootbear floats.
