Lawn Mower Therapy

I love the smell of freshly mowed grass. And the look of it, too. So crisp and neat.

I spent Thursday evening on the lawn tractor. I actually don’t mind it because it’s like an escape. I sing loudly because no one can hear me. Or I think about things…life. Sometimes I vent my anger because, again, no one can hear me. It’s therapeutic really. Ohhh, if my lawn tractor could talk.

I like going up and down the rows, making neat and tidy patterns. The best patterns are those that push the grass out to the sides. Now that I think about it, sometimes that’s the therapy. Thinking about nothing except the methodical patterns made by the lawn mower.

There is something so soothing about freshly cut grass...

I used to love to mow grass...and can understand why it is so therapeutic to you We just need to get grass here...I'm beginning to worry about if we will make it this year with us leaving state and our planting season so short. We need topsoil still brought in....when we do I doubt I'll do much to the mowing...Jeremy loves it more that I do and could use the therapy...LOL

I so agree, freshly cut grass brings out a 'tranquil' feeling.

Your wonderful writing made one feel as if witnessing the event.

What better prescription to ease a 'stressful' day - than to hop onto a lawn tractor and "sing loudly".

Another great photo with a beautifully cut lawn.

ps where are the Dandelions???

Heather - I hope you get your topsoil. I have a friend who just bought a house in the nearby city, and the topsoil people are booked up. So are the backhoe people, I guess. She's hoping she'll get grass in by the end of the summer.

Peter - Those dandelions are outta here! Nah. They keep coming up - the pesky things, and I chop 'em down. :)

Steffi - Thanks. We live out in the country, though, that's why our garden (yard) is larger. It's nice to have the space, but it is a lot of work, too.

My son has taken over mowing and I have to admit, sometimes I'll grab my ipod and jump on the lawn tractor and cut the grass before he gets home from school. You're right, there's something very soothing about mowing a lawn.
