A Sweet Mother's Day

I had a lovely Mother's Day. The homemade cards from my children are scrumptious. I savor moments like these because of their innocent simplicity. Seeing their faces so full of love and the desire to please makes my heart ache. This all may sound corny, but I'm sure all parents can relate. Their faces lit up with pleasure when I told them how wonderful their handwritten sentiments were, and the hugs were oh so sweet. What is wonderful about their ages right now is that I get this all of the time from them - not just on Mother's Day. And I thoroughly enjoy every moment. I am a realist, however. One day, hopefully not soon, their adoring looks will fade and be replaced by the looks that teenagers give their parents. For now, though, I get to enjoy the pure untainted kind of love that small children give freely to their parents. Every day is Mother's Day around here.

The flowers look beautiful. And the home made cards are so special. I remember when the kids used to do that. Sometimes they still do but for the most part they don't much. But Dawn is not much of a "special day" person. Kind of takes the fun out of life sometimes but I think Mothers Day is a bit special to her.

I actually agree (somewhat) with Dawn about 'special days'.

I like the special days because they can be fun, but really the focus should be on how we treat our loved ones everyday. Mothers' Day, Father's Day, etc. have really just become money grabs. But just because a commercial says to buy this or that doesn't mean we have to. Spending time with my mom, I know, is what she loves best.

I enjoy being a mom to my kids every day - even when I think I'm not. ;)

Debbie, may those sentiments from the heart remain with you always.

The love you so wonderfully expressed in this post - is a joy of your delightful children and in such creative workings in their Mother's Day cards to you.
