More Than Just a Bad Smell

Did you know that cows/livestock produce more methane gas from their farts than that produced by automobiles?! According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, methane gas produced by livestock makes up 18% of the world's emissions compared to 5% from transportation. That is amazing!

Can't you see it now...pretty soon they will have cattle farms where the cows farts are gathered and sold to industries to produce heat for making steam to power the generators that produce power that the farmers use to gather the cows farts. Man this green stuff gets complicated.

What's so funny is that there is a Remax commercial on television right now with a couple looking for an eco-friendly home. The man says, "Maybe even with methane!" and I started laughing and said to my husband, "Yes, because we all want to live among the cow farts!" and suddenly they show the couple standing next to a windmill surrounded by cows.

Gross, eh?

That is interesting that farts make more pollution then our cars. kinda of funny to think about though.

Thanks for comming by my blog and your comments. Kenzie seems to be feeling quite a bit better today and is eating like she has been starved for a week so hopefully she will starting putting that weight back on soon. I will have to read through your blog, I always love to find new blogs to visit, I am a blogaholic.

While sitting down to dinner at the local eatery, I noticed a fellow proclaiming rather loudly that he was a vegetarian. The reason, he stated was to protect the environment for the very reasons mentioned in your blog. He was against dairy farms, the meat industry (depletion of the Ozone, etc.) and just cows in general. As he ranted on and on, he must have heard me sigh, so he turns to me and asked me rather pointedly what I am doing to help the environment.

As I cut into my steak, I glanced up at the fellow and calmly stated, "I'm eatin' the cows."
