There is a teacher’s strike in our area. It includes the teachers at our home-school program, but since we only got to school two days per week, it doesn’t affect us that much. According to the news, the strike may last quite awhile. I'm trying to sift through all of the information to find out what the strike is actually about. If you were just listening to the news you might think that it's only about the money, but I've been hearing from people is that it has to do with class sizes, etc.
What is annoying to me is that…eh hem…all of the kids from public school are flooding to the places that we usually like to go. We went swimming on Friday and the pool was packed!! Usually, we are one of about ten people. Well, except for the senior’s aqua size class. I wanted to go the Science Museum next week to see the new Lego display, but you just know it’ll be busy there, too. The nice thing about homeschooling has been that you get these places to yourself.
Of course, I hope for a quick resolution so that the children of our community can go back to school and resume learning…and give us our space back!

I hope that it's quick too since I'm trying to pre-register Spencer in kindergarten at Graminia and can't because of the strike! They're supposed to have an open house on March 12 so I'm hoping it doesn't drag past then...
I saw the piece on the news about the TLC. Looked pretty packed. At least since you home school the teacher isn't on strike....although there are probably days you wouldn't mind being on strike :-)
