Another Science Day

Yesterday we had another day at the Science museum. The classes they took this time around were “Rocks and Minerals” and “Bubbles, Bubbles”. The first one was interesting and the second was just fun. In “Rocks and Minerals” they were introduced to the differences between igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks and they had to identify some rocks that were provided. Similarly with samples of minerals. This time they were learning the difference between translucent, transparent, and opaque. In “Bubbles, Bubbles” they started blowing bubbles with their hands and moved onto straws. I even had fun doing that one. I never thought to use a straw before! They had us blowing bubbles inside other bubbles, on top of other bubbles, and even making square bubbles (it IS possible).

After the classes we hung out at the museum for a bit. Because we’ve been there so often lately, they have their favourite places to go. The “Space” room is one they enjoy. It gives you a glimpse of what it’s like in a space shuttle. They love the “Senses” room. This is where they test your senses using a variety of tests and gadgets. Dd loves the aquarium where you climb underneath and poke your head up inside, looking at the fish through a dome.
