Hands down – I think we have the best next door neighbours around. They are ALWAYS there when/if we need them (except when they’re off in Jamaica or Mexico or somewhere :)).
They let us raid their vegetable garden, when Adrian worked out of town and the kids were babies, Don often ploughed my driveway, he has lent us his hauling trailer too many times to count, and Ruth has been a mentor to me several times when I was feeling discouraged about being a good wife and mommy. Once, when I was over there for a QUICK visit, I found myself pouring out my feelings of inadequacy to her. I didn’t mean to because she’s always appeared to do everything so perfectly. Her house is always clean, she sews, and she makes EVERYTHING from scratch. I certainly don’t measure up to that, but she gave me such words of encouragement and relayed some of her stumbling blocks when her children were small (they're in their twenties now). I’ll never forget that day.
We’ve lived here for ten years, and there are just too many similar incidents to recount. I know that I’ve touched on how I feel about my neighbours in previous posts. Not just the ones next door, but the ones across the street, and the few others we’re getting to know. I just feel so fortunate to have become friends with our neighbours.
Last night, Ruth called and asked if the kids would like to come over for a muffin. As soon as I mentioned who had invited them, the children were up getting their boots on and were out the door. They didn’t come back for nearly an hour. They were helping Ruth do some icing, I guess. Then Don walked them home since it had gotten dark, and he brought a plate full of muffins, too! They’re just awesome people - I love them!

I wish we had neighbours like that. Our neighbours are good but they aren't as close like your crew near you. They do plough our driveway though :-)
Don and Ruth are very nice people. I like where I am at but wish everyone was a little closer.
It's always nice to hear of people being close with their neighbours. We've been out here going on 12 years and barely know most of our neighbours. Everyone is 'very' pleasant and we wave or say if we are out walking, but no one really visits. It's a big subdivision though so maybe that has something to do with it. Our neighbours right across from us will come over for coffee once in awhile and the neighbours two doors down have become friends, but still just 'neighbour' friends, not hanging out kind of friends.
Obviously your neighbours see something in you as well Debbie, so it looks like you're all lucky :o)
Were going to be going over to them and thanking them with baked goods. I need to get out more though...don't do it as much as I would like or used to. Maybe if I stop commenting on peoples blogs......Can't do that!!! :-)
No - can't do that! Funnily enough, I feel that I've gotten to know you better on here, "Sirdar". I met you that ONE time at your house so long ago, and then didn't see you again 'till our party. By then, however, it was like I knew you so much better because of blogging. I love that!
