Welcome a New Citizen!

Adrian is finally a Canadian Citizen! Today we went to watch him swear his oath of allegiance. Ninety-three people from thirty-five different countries were sworn in during the ceremony. The mayor of Edmonton, Stephen Mandel, and the Alberta Liberal Leader, Kevin Taft, were there as guests.

Unfortunately, we weren't permitted to take photographs during the actual swearing in process.
Waiting for the ceremony to begin.

The ceremony was held at the Arts and Convocation at the U of A

Nice to see your comment, G!!

Heather, I'm from here (Canada), but Adrian is from England. He's lived here 17 years - that's why I say "finally".

Hey neighbour! Congrats to Adrian! It took a while for my dad to get his citizenship as well (like after I was born so that would have meant that he was in Canada from England for 20 years before he did it but the rules were different then).

It took us 16 years to take the leap and become Canadians, and only did it then because my brother wanted to join the Reserves. Congrats to your husband!

You know...Adrain even looks more Canadian now :-)

Odd custom though...swearing to become a citizen?
