THE Number

How to weigh yourself correctly.

So I weighed and measured my waist this morning. I need to get the start numbers for Phase One. This lasts at least a month and I’m not supposed to weigh or anything until the beginning of the next phase.

Now, I had a crrrazy thought this morning, and then quickly came to my senses. I thought. “Hey, I should post my numbers on my blog”. !!!!!!!!!!!!! See? Crazy! I had a brief thought of accountability or some such nonsense. I don’t know many women who would tell their friends their NUMBER let alone post it on the World Wide Web. Adrian doesn’t even know what it is! In fact, one day Adrian and I were discussing weight loss, and I was just about to tell him. Then he guessed something that was like 20 lbs LESS than what I am. That’s it, I thought. He ain’t findin’ out now!

I wonder why we have this issue with the number. People can see what we look like. Knowing the number doesn’t suddenly make us look fatter or thinner. The number on our size of clothing is another taboo one, but still not as terrifying as that number on the scale. It’s not even that telling, apparently. Everybody has a different amount of muscle which makes the same size person weigh different amounts.

My friend and I know right away what we mean when we ask “What’s your number?” She is the only one (besides my doctor) that knows, and I had a hard time telling her. Actually, that’s why I had the moment of delusion. I thought, perhaps I could free myself from this silliness. I might one day, but not today!

Do YOU tell anyone your number?

I just re-read the first sentence of my post: "I just weighed and measured my waist." Funny! Last time I checked you can't WEIGH your waist. You obviously knew what I meant, but it's still funny.

lol I didn't even notice!!! Hmmm I wonder what my waist would weigh....its the slimmest part of me which makes me love it lol....well....actually my arms are probably the slimmest...and my neck...sadly not my legs......hmmm My waist is my third thinnest.

I'm rambling...trying to distract myself....not be so stressed lol!

I tell my number. I was 190lbs this morning. 1 pound over my pre-Christmas weight and 14 below what I was in August.

Good luck on reaching your goal number. Of course bringing yummy rice crispy squares to visit isn't going to help us...but they were good!! :-) (nobody said you had to lose it all in one day right?)

Thanks, Sirdar. You know, I could be wrong, but I think it's eaiser for guys to admit their weight. I don't think that they're as insecure about it.

I once told a friend my weight...only because she's a big girl too...and she said she would have thought I was about 30lbs less. I think my body hides it well- at least did until this last baby!

I just had to pop by - to view this cartoon again!!

I just so luv it!!

I know I should be looking at my calorie intake, but my reluctance to stand on the scales - means I can extend further - until the inevitable happens!!
