Phonetic Checkers

Ds and I played some Checkers this afternoon. Phonetic Checkers. You tape pieces of paper with letters and other phonograms onto the squares. Then before you move your piece onto the square you must say the correct sound.

I made this version last year - he's actually ready for more advanced sounds now. Today was a good refresher, though. On the other hand, I might keep it the way it is for dd.
Ds is getting quite good at Checkers. He'll be beating me soon. Not that that's a huge feat. I never was that good at the game. In fact, a soon to be eight year is just at the right level for me. ;)

Enjoy beating them now. Later, it will be a challenge. Trust me!! :-)

Actually it has been a while since I've played any games with the kids. Should get back to that again.

Doggone it, that's great. I love smart mom's, but you make me feel inadequate :) I did buy a really great chess set for Christmas, it has the movements on the pieces... so you know which piece can go where. That part has always confused me, so we can learn together :)

Oh man, I've tried to tackle Chess before. I can barely get my strategy down for Checkers!

By the way, I got this idea from a book. ;)
