Sledding with Friends

Monday we had friends over in the afternoon for a sledding playdate. G came with her daughter and so did L's son. We went to the hill in our subdivision, and the kids seemed to have a blast.

I need to read the manual for my camera, however, because I think there is a technique to shooting pictures in the snow. The ones below came out looking pretty dull looking for some reason.

Do you have a function on the camera...background light behind the subject...or something like that? Sorry I can't describe it right now. I know we have one but have never tried it on a snow shot. My snow shots came out like yours...grey. I might try that setting and see what it does. Did your camera come with some software? There might be something you can do there.

I have a sunny day mode, that is supposed to be used on bright days - I'll try that. I'll also try adjusting the exposure by one stop. We'll see.
