I've been unable to publish posts for the last several days dues to internet problems. The theory is that the rain on the leaves of our trees is interfering with our signal. I think that we're going to have to cut some trees down.
Wednesday at home:
We were getting reading in the morning for that day's lessons and I mentioned to ds that I'd like to move our Lego table downstairs. It's been off to the side of the dining room. It looks messy but I like that the children can just go and create at anytime and still be with us. I was reluctant to move the Lego downstairs because I pictured Lego EVERYWHERE, but the children are older now. They can be trusted. While I was discussing this with dsand he said that he'd prefer to homeschool downstairs. Hmmmm. We went downstairs and looked around. Okay, let’s do it. In the end, instead of doing lessons we spent the day rearranging our life. I brought all of the homeschool paraphernalia down and, of course, the Lego table.
Thursday:
I took ds to the dentist before school. For the last year he has had a dental appliance called a Crib in his mouth. It’s to stop his tongue from thrusting too far forward because it interferes with his teeth and his speech. When it was put on originally the dentist said that it would need to be on for about a year. So, on this day I was looking forward to some good news. That unfortunately was not the case. His top jaw is much further forward compared to his bottom jaw. Not only can we not have the crib removed but we’re also going to an Orthodontist consultation. That’s at the end of October. I’m worried that his mouth won’t be able to be fixed. Or that if it can be fixed but it will be a long, drawn-out, painful process…not to mention expensive. I guess we’ll see at the end of October.
Friday at home:
Our first homeschool day in the basement. Ds and dd worked on Math. It went well. Ds actually seemed enthusiastic. Dd remained pretty focused. Afterwards they each made a card for my friend who had appendicitis. I got a book from the library on how to make pop-ups. They’re a lot of fun, and make interesting cards. Ds was into to it, as well. He often complains about making cards, but he enjoyed making his bird. It looked like it was flying whenever the card was opened. Dd made a butterfly which actually ended up looking like a ladybug.
We met my friend for a visit at an indoor play land. The rainy day was ideal for a play date inside. We went to the library next and took out even more books. I was driving my friend home when we decided to go for a little drive. I love just driving aimlessly looking at houses. Once the kids caught on that were weren’t going anywhere in particular they got interested too. Dd loved the houses that had decks on the second level. A double decker deck as we called them. Soon, it was time to drop off my friend and head home.
Saturday:
Brrrr. A cold day. We went to sign the children up with Junior Forest Wardens. Adrian volunteered to be a leader this year. We got their uniform shirts and their manuals. Adrian got acquainted with the other members.
Then we went into town and rented movies. We had a nice day lounging and keeping warm together.
That night we got internet for about a minute. Long enough for me to post a message about being disconnected. I hope our connection hangs around today.

I have been having problems with my connection to - and it has been affecting any emails - so that could be a problem - especially where medical journals are??
I usually request over the weekend (and today being Saturday) this would be the day - the connection goes down - and all one gets is a "Recorded message" - which you still have to pay for!!
Modern technology!!
Bring back the fountain pen and paper - everytime!!
