Mish Mash

A mish mash is the best way to describe yesterday. When I checked my email in the morning there was a message from a homeschool mom. She was hosting a PLAYMOBIL play date at 10am. Somehow I didn’t get the original email listing the times. It was 7:30ish and I wasn’t anywhere close to being ready to go anywhere. I had math planned for the morning. BUT… I knew the kids would love to go and play. So, I scrapped my math plan and decided to go the play date. Then I was running late so, I called the mom to confirm the details, and it ended up being sort of cancelled due to illnesses. So, now it’s 10am and I’m no longer in the mindset to teach. The kids end playing with playdough and I switch between cleaning and yacking on the phone.

Later in the afternoon we went to the bank to complete some business. The lady who was helping me was taking her sweet time and the kids were borrrrred, but they did pretty well. I remember how it was to wait in the bank for my mother. Torture. I treated them to ice cream afterwards. We took off to meet my friend then at a playground. (yes, SC, I ended up being a TINY bit late – don’t say I told you so!) I stopped at the library first to drop-off and pick-up books.

When we got down to the playground it was gorgeous and peaceful. I remembered my camera this time and took several shots of the kids. I wish I was better at photography. I think I might just take a class or two – just for fun. The kids were into my snapping shots. They started saying “take a picture of me here” or “what about this mom? Doesn’t this look nice?”

My friend showed up then with her son and a girl that she baby-sits. It was so good to see her. She is the one that had appendicitis at the end of August. Because her appendix actually burst she is having a long recovery. She’s doing better, but still experiences quite a bit of pain. I accosted her son and took some pics of him. It was just too nice of a setting to pass up. Then she surprised me. My birthday is in November and she’d already bought me a gift, but she couldn’t wait to give it to me. Isn’t that sweet? She gave me a beautiful journal. And not just a plain old journal. It has sections with labels such as spirituality, friendship, and empowering yourself among others. Each section contains inspiring quotes. Wonderful paper and sketches fill the pages as well. It was a perfect gift. Thank-you, L. (Even though she won’t be reading this right now because her computer is broken)

We were having such a lovely time that I didn’t want to leave, but leave we had to. It was already past five, and we were volunteering with Junior Forest Wardens in the evening. We said good-bye until next time.
